Iron Worker I learned that people who had jobs still had a hard time because there jobs were extremely dangerous. Chris Thorsten was one of people who worked with iron on bridges during the Great Depression and while working there was an accident that broke all his ribs, a collar bone, and some of his vertabrea. All of those injuries took fours years to heal. A number of other people who worked on the construction bridges during this time period died while working . Packing House Worker Also, During the Great Depression there was a large amount of racism. Jim Cole who was an African American worked as butcher in a beef factory and he wanted to join a union.
